This is the debut solo album.
It was a real undertaking to complete. I wrote the music and lyrics, and played all the parts. In the past, I've always played with bands, so working this way was different and interesting. I would love to play the songs live someday if the occasion presents itself.
The Leaves of Memory album is, for the most part, essentially a classic rock album. It is guitar oriented, of course. There are many things in it musically and lyrically.
I have always liked melody and harmony when it comes to choruses, so I think a lot of the material demonstrates that. I believe that lyrics should "say something", and so I'd like to think there are some important messages in the album. I like to balance things musically, and so there are some acoustic compositions in there. Sometimes a song might call for some shredding, so that is in there too. Sometimes you just have to crank the volume, and let it rip, you know? I've always liked harmony leads too, so I put in a couple of those.
Forcing myself to complete my ideas as complete songs led to a lot of experimentation with different song ideas. As a result, I now have a lot of material and lyrics for the next album adventure. I look forward to creating it. Until then, be well.
